CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER - Katy Cocovinis
Kay Cocovinis is an educator, entrepreneur, performer and mom; committed to creating programs for kids that promote leadership, wellness and collaboration. She was a nationally ranked competitive cheerleader and dancer before becoming a coach. Katy graduated with a B.F.A. in Acting and Directing and held the Highest Honors in Texas Tech University's College of Visual and Performing Arts. After moving to NY, she studied in CCNY's Graduate program in Educational Theatre. Katy is the former Executive Director of Manhattan Theatre Mission where she produced more than 10 major performances in NYC including an award winning production in the New York International Fringe Festival and serving as a producing member on the 2011 revival of Godspell on Broadway. Katy has also served as a program director for children's programs at several organizations such as New York Kids Club in Manhattan and the Y of Washington Heights. Katy began New York All Stars with a small Saturday morning class in Woodlawn, NY in 2013, which has since served hundreds of kids in the community. In her spare time she is a curriculum consultant for Camp Broadway and serves on the board of the New York Educational Theatre Association.
CHIEF OPERATIONS OFFICER - Jason Cocovinis
Jason Cocovinis is a co-founder of New York All Stars and serves as a program administrator and guest instructor. Jason is the Director of Marketing at Music Theatre International – the world’s largest theatrical licensing organization, providing the performance rights for almost every major Broadway musical to professional theatres, community theatres and educational programs. He has the unique opportunity to work hands on with the industry’s best professionals in theatre, entertainment and educational programming. He serves as an integral part of New York All Stars administrative team and will co-direct the P.O.P.S. program this season.
PROGRAM MANAGER & SALES DIRECTOR - Anna Von Wiegand
Anna Von Wiegand joined our team in its 3rd year as an instructor in our Pre-K Prep program. She then moved into an administrative role, overseeing the general office managemernt and billing. Anna has proven to be an integral part of our operation and was recently promoted to Program Manager and Sales Director. Anna is also a full time mom to her daughter Adianna Von
Wiegand, who has been actively involved in our P.O.P.S and cheer teams for several years in addition to pursuing professional performance opportunities. Anna is also active in the PTA at P.E.A.R.L.S. Hawthorne School, where she serves as the director and choreographer for PEARLS GOT TALENT. Anna is passionate about working with kids of all ages.
EARLY CHILDHOOD LEAD TEACHER AND PROGRAM CONSULTANT / CHEER COACH - Dr. Nnenna Franciamore
Dr. Nnenna Franciamore is a licensed teacher, with Pre-K -6th grade permanent certification. She has over 14 years of teaching experience. 7 of which were owning and operating an early childhood program. Prior to that she spent several years teaching elementary school in the NYCDOE. She completed her PH.D in Education with a focus in early childhood education. She currently works as a consultant building early childhood programs in communities as well as an adjunct professor and 2 different universities. She is an avid supporter of the Woodlawn community and has served as the PS19 PTA president as well as participates in Women of Woodlawn. She is excited to partner with NYAS to bring as many early childhood programs into the community to serve kids and families. She is also the CEO of Solid Foundations for Healthy Families and has run the Box of Joy project for the past 3 years. She is also the mom of 3 children all at Ps19, K, 4th, and 6th grader; and enjoys being an assistant coach for NYAS cheer!
EARLY CHILDHOOD PROGRAM INSTRUCTOR / DIRECTOR OF SUMMER PROGRAMS - Laurie Robinson
Laurie Robinson is a licensed child care director with over 20 years of early childhood experience. She holds a B.A. in Communication from the University of Texas in Arlington. She served as the Disability and Mental Health Coordinator for the Head Start program and has lead several after school programs, camps and day care programs through the YMCA. Laurie is a former pre-school director and also works as a professional nanny and in-home tutor for school age kids. In 2001, she founded Jubilee Cheer and Dance Company in Texas with her daughter Katy, who now owns and operates New York All Stars. She is a lifelong Girl Scout, entrepreneur and creative artist with a passion for theatre and music. Last year, Laurie joined our teaching team for the Pre-K Prep program and was quickly adored for her fun and creative songs and games!
